Today has certainly been a strange day in the weird world of words. I went to yoga- a sure bet that you will hear some oddities, my favorite being “A man lived in a cave in isolation for 46 years. That’s cold.” It was funnier in context, since the topic of yoga was warm vs cold, but that is not the point of this post.
I watched the Republican debate tonight, and I thought it was mostly crap. Not because of the views expressed, but by how it all happened. Really, I have never seen more woeful waffle in my life. Specific complaints include:
1. Talking not once, twice, or even five times past the “time” mark, but six times, while still not even being on topic
2. Completely ignoring the question (aka Mitt Romney on homosexuality in the military) and refusing to answer it. It’s not like a person with fatal character flaws has never been elected to office before, so at least be honest.
3. The riff-raff questions that were admitted. “Do you believe every word of the Bible?” How about a relevant question like “Do you believe in separation of church and state?” And the baseball question at the end?! Yeah, CNN, we all thought it was knee-slapping hilarious, but when you only have limited time to evaluate the choices, why are you wasting it? P.S. Thanks for letting Ron Paul talk.
Unfortunately, I was being tested on my scientific knowledge so did not get to see the Democrats talk, but one thing is certain. Most of the Republican candidates have my vote for Prime Minister of Changing the Subject and Selective Attention to Addressing Important Issues.
I have so many things to be thankful this year. I am horribly inadequate at articulating all of the things I am thankful for, so I will hit the basics (in alphabetical order).
My family and kitten

My friends near and far, and my field, and the good times we have

Nature’s beauty

The special people in my life who care to make a big difference in the world

All the fabulous traveling I have done and things I have seen

Hope you enjoyed your day and said your thanks too!
I am a very social creature, it is true. But today I had the best introverted day ever! Let me begin by giving thanks for Thanksgiving break, and all my friends that I have enjoyed chatting with today, but let me just revel in the glory that was my alone day. Step one: read magazines guilt free. Step two: take a massive nap while reading said magazines. Step three through seven: read Harry Potter while biking, people watch the rather interesting, overwhelmingly young, single, buff clientèle for a Friday night at the gym while lifting, play squash alone, sauna, steam bath, and cap it all off with a wine+Beyonce+cleaning party, life is super duper! Though I am definitely prone to loneliness, I had a great day being my own best friend today (except lunch with Al, which was also spectacular).
Well, as always, life is full of wonderful things that as the title implies, definitely, very much so, float my boat. I would write them all in separate entries, but impending midterms prohibit leisure blogging time.
1. Stars (the band): I saw them play the other night at the Gothic Theatre down Broadway. They have long since been becoming my favorite band of my twenties, and Tuesday night sealed the deal. I can’t think of any band who can go from deliberate, pristine, pretty, and calm and change into a perfectly calculated, choreographed train wreck of sound (in the best possible way). Their live show is spectacular. I highly recommend it to all. And for those of the faint of heart, please do try one of their albums.
2. Warm milk and cookies after a long day at the gym (aka me right now)
3. Fall: I know I talk about this one a lot, but seriously. When in November you can go running in shorts and a sports bra, or go to the pool and sit in the sunshine for a few minutes without freezing to death. I love it. Not to be confused with my distaste for global warming, but I sure do like some of the consequences.
4. Old friends: I love seeing/hearing from my amigos. Ahhhhhhhhh….
5. Health Care: I went for a checkup the other day, and it was free! Free I tell you! I lie not. Because it was a preventative appointment. Finally, they are starting to catch on!
I am so proud of myself- I have finally discovered and have started to apply one of the tastiest tidbits of life in regards to productivity. I often find my self with a large to do list, sometimes multiple sticky notes long. This can be quite overwhelming. But here is the secret I have discovered. I have a 20 minute threshold. That is how long I can do something and it can keep my attention, and not start to hate doing it or become very unproductive. So, by doing everything in 20 minute spurts, I can accomplish so much more! You should try it. And tell me about your other productivity and non-procrastination tips…

Is filled with crunching leaves, stiff breezes, surprisingly warm days, a new pallette of colors, deep and rich, full moons, spooky spirits, candy corn, a warm and fuzzy feeling, gingerbread and caramel scent, spiced apples, breathlessness, longing for summer, dreading for winter, and a perfect mix of loving the moment….
