My most exciting class this semester is a graduate level engineering course (how this happened, I don’t know) that focuses on Public Health in Developing Communities.  I have been meaning to write a post on the strangeness and goodness that it is for quite some time.  What other classes can you get a full cardio workout in while actually learning the names of other people in your class?  And more importantly, when else can you give and receive a massage (an appropriate one, I assure you) from your 50-60 year old hippie* teacher?  I am pretty sure this is the only time.

Other than exciting “icebreaker” antics,  the class focuses on creating a project that could be implemented so as to better the lives and health of citizens in a developing community, something that has interested me for quite some time.  I think we might be continuing some work play that I have done a bit of having to do with glorious Nepal.  I am plotting a wintertime escape to the Himalayas…  Anyway, I was struck with glee today during class.  It was one of the only times that I have been sure in the last while that I made a right decision.  I am so glad I quit my job to pursue other things.  Wow.  I am so much happier this way!  Although I do love entrepreneurship still, I have decided that I only love it if it accomplishes “significant” good in the world, thus, I will put my entrepreneurial spirit towards that end.  More details to come.

On a final note, my new found scientific brain has been diminishing other areas of my brain; grammar errors abound and I locked myself inside my house today.  Skill.

Also, I highly recommend Yellowcard’s new cd, Paper Walls.  They really can’t go wrong.

*Although my teachers may seem like hippies a little, they are amazing docs who have worked all over the world making it better, thus they are my newest idols.  With long white hair.
